Smile Empty Soul

Ty Del Rose

“No one person or material thing could ever come close to the feeling I get when the music is right.” -Barry Manilow This quote accurately defines the feeling drummer Ty Del Rose strives to create behind a set of drums, on stage or in the studio, from the corner of a small bar to the main stage of a mega-festival, with any genre of music from rock, pop, blues, soul, jazz, country, disco, to just about everything in between!

Del Rose has been touring and recording with rock band Smile Empty Soul since 2018, and recorded drums for the EPs Sheep (2019), 2020 (2020) and The Loss Of Everything (to be released October 2022), as well as full length album Black Pilled (2021).

He also appears in the music videos for the singles “Entitled”, “Excommunicated”, “Sunburn”, “Bitterness & Bleach” and "Manifesto".

Other touring credits include rock bands Another Lost Year from 2017-2018 and Romantic Rebel from 2015-2016. Del Rose recorded drums for Another Lost Year’s 2017 single “Call It Like It Is” as well as the digitally unreleased Romantic Rebel EP Begin Again (2016), produced by Johnny K. Del Rose appears in the music video for “Too Far”, the lead single from the EP and the only song from the sessions to be available for streaming on online platforms.

Del Rose works regularly with Chicagoland-based company Xtreme Cover Bands, performing with the company's bands The Breakfast Club (80’s), The Shagadelics (disco), Nerdvana (90’s), Queen Explosion (Queen tribute band), and several others including live band karaoke. In October 2017, Del Rose appeared with The Breakfast Club in two gigs overseas performing on United Nations Air Force bases for troops in Jordan and Qatar.

Other bands and artists Del Rose has subbed in with in recent years include alternative pop-rock artist Mel Senese (Del Rose appeared as part of her backing band on ABC’s Windy City LIVE show in 2019), blues band Susan Williams & The Wright Groove, and country rock band The Northern Lights.

When not gigging, Del Rose is passionate about songwriting and production/engineering, often working with other local bands in his studio setup. Del Rose has produced tracks for rock bands Solarist and Bullet To The Heart. He has also contributed drum tracks remotely for artists all around the world, including pop-punk band Blissful Little Me and Australian singer-songwriter Ben Mitchell.

Del Rose was featured on Modern Drummer's “On The Beat” online blog in August 2016. He was also voted one of the top 10 “Drummers of the Year” on Rock Rage Radio's 2017 awards. Del Rose is no stranger to learning large catalogs of material on short notice and with a love for all things music and an appreciation for a wide variety of genres, Del Rose prides himself on delivering a solid, musical performance that’s sure to excite, elevate and most importantly, feel really, really good.
